From then on, he dedicated his life to teaching and researching Chinese classical dance and Chinese folk dance, especially devoting immense passion and energy to the study and research of traditional Chinese swordsmanship and Chinese sword culture. In 2009, she returned to New Zealand and established the NZ Shuhuai Sword team. In 2012, she first participated in martial arts performances and individual competitions, and has continued to practice ever since.

Wu-style Tai Chi is one of the five major traditional schools of Tai Chi in China (the other four are Chen, Yang, Wu/Hao, and Sun styles). Origins and Lineage The founder of Wu-style Tai Chi was Wu Quanyou, a Manchu of the Plain White Banner during the Qing Dynasty. He studied under Yang Luchan, the founder of Yang-style Tai Chi, and Yang’s son Yang Banhou. Drawing on both the large-frame and small-frame forms of Yang style, Wu Quanyou developed a medium-frame (Zhongjia) form, which became the prototype of Wu-style Tai Chi. In the early 20th century, Wu Quanyou’s son Wu Jianquan refined the form by removing repetitive and jumping movements, making it smoother and more continuous. This led to the formal establishment of Wu-style Tai Chi as an independent school. Characteristics of Wu-style Tai Chi Wu-style Tai Chi is characterized by: •Relaxation, calmness, softness, and neutralization •Compact yet extended movements •“Chuan-shaped” stepping pattern •Balance within slight forward inclinations Common routines include: •Traditional 36-form Wu-style Tai Chi •45-form competition routine Southern and Northern Branches Wu-style Tai Chi later developed into two main branches: •Southern Branch: Passed down by Wu Jianquan and his successors such as Wu Gongyi, Wu Gongzao, and Ma Yueliang, mainly in Shanghai. •Northern Branch: Transmitted by Wang Maozhai and later practitioners including Yang Yuting, Wang Peisheng, and Li Bingci, primarily in Beijing. Overseas Transmission Master Li Bingci’s disciple, Zhou Weiyu, a promoter of Chinese martial arts, emigrated to New Zealand and founded the New Zealand Wu-style Tai Chi Association. He has worked to establish and spread Wu-style Tai Chi there, training successors and formally accepting seven disciples, who represent the sixth generation of Wu-style Tai Chi (and the second generation in New Zealand). Today, Mr. Zhou Weiyu leads his team in participating in World Tai Chi Day, continuing to help Chinese Tai Chi flourish overseas. With a commitment to Chinese culture, they aim to promote health and well-being for people around the world.
